A brand new film club for people aged 12-17 living in Hackney. Watch and discuss movies with your friends, meet film experts, eat a lot of popcorn, and pick your favourites to show at a new outdoor cinema in Dalston Square this summer.

Join our Film Club and you can help choose what films to show on the big screen. We’ll meet once a week for six weeks between March and May to watch films and talk about them, then decide together what to show on the Dalston Square big screen. It’s a chance to share your favourite films and learn from our experts about how to run a cinema. And best of all, it’s completely FREE! What’s not to like?!

Hackney Live will be launching on Monday 25 February 2013 with a three day showcase. These will include music, dance and contemporary arts.

The showcases will be screened at Hackney Empire on Monday and Tuesday from 7-8pm and you can tune in live online on Wednesday. There will also be live screenings at the Concord and Forest Road youth centres.

Monday 25 February 2013 – music showcase

A live band will be re-arranging a specially created track. It will teach the audience all about music production. You’ll be able to stream it live. The audience will be able to send in questions after through Facebook and Twitter.

Tuesday 26 February – dance showcase

Rising Tide will work with their most talented emerging artists and industry professionals to create an interactive dance showcase choreographed by Tony Adigun, creative director of Sky’s Got to Dance. The audience will be able to film their dance moves using an app called, Vine and send them via Twitter and Facebook. These will then be integrated into the dance performance. There will be a chance after for the audience to send in questions through Facebook and Twitter.

Wednesday 27 February

Pre-recorded comtemporary art videos will be showcased.

Originally launched as part of Discover Young Hackney in November 2011, the focus of the programme is to create a sustained support network for young people to develop their creative skills and turn their ideas into small enterprises, providing them with the skills and experience to enter into education, employment and training.

The project is well underway, the groups have come up with some amazing concepts for their brands, they are currently busy developing their designs and planning how they are going to take the world of retail by storm by thinking of creative ways to promote and market their products.

It won’t be long until you will be able to get your hands on their products, they will be available online from the ART AGAINST KNIVES Gallery (www.artagainstknivesgallery.com) and you are all invited to check them out for yourselves at a showcase event at the end of February!

You’ll learn all about what reporting on an event involves from our very own All Aspects team and get the opportunity to have a go at filming, presenting and hyping in the events world.

The All Aspects team will share their experiences of reporting at events, and will be on hand to answer any questions you want to ask about event reporting.
